When it comes to high school hoops tournaments, it doesn’t get any better than this. This December will showcase the 13th edition of the Marshall County HoopFest in Benton, Kentucky. Nationally ranked teams and state championship contenders in boys and girls basketball will compete in a total of 17 games over three days along with a Slam Dunk Contest.

Once again, Oak Hill Academy (VA) tops the list of national powers at the HoopFest, along with Monteverde Academy (FL), Chicago Whitney Young (IL), St. Benedict’s (NJ), Jackson Provine (MS), Memphis White Station (TN), Wheeler (GA), Chicago Simeon (IL), Duncanville (TX), Jackson Calloway (MS), Homewood Flossmoor (IL), Briarcrest (TN) and Obion County Central (TN).

Many NBA scouts and NCAA coaches attend HoopFest each year to watch names like Carmelo Anthony, Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. But amongst these high-profile scorers, the most points scored in a game at HoopFest was 46 by Monta Ellis in 2004.

Last season, the marquee match up of St. Benedict’s Prep vs. Oak Hill Academy – which was broadcast nationally on ESPN – was highest-rated televised high school game with over four million people tuning in. We’re sure this season won’t disappoint.
