Name: Harrow Recreation Ground
Address: Hindes Road, Harrow, England
Level of Competition: In the summertime, you’ll get a collection of the local area ballers that come out and run fulls, but the value in this court is its condition. Organize a run here with your boys/girls so you bring your own competition and ball out.
Court Status: One of the hidden gems in London, as far as outdoor courts go. No other markings on the recently re-laid and painted asphalt make this a baller’s dream. The courts even have mini bleachers if your friends come and watch! Set in middle of a lush green park, the court has crazy potential as a basketball hotspot. Have ball, will travel.
Court Specs: One full court marked only for basketball, two half courts - also only marked for basketball. Court is slightly longer than regulation which makes full court runs here exciting, wide open and fluid.
Surface: Recently re-laid asphalt with green colored flooring, tan in the paint and white court lines.
Backboard: Iron, semi-circle (another reason to make this a court you need to get onto)
Rims: Iron, vandal proof (unless LeBron is in the area)
Nets: Nylon - with the sound effects (Need I say more? Make it happen!)
Lights: No, because the park closes at dusk - get your run in during the early afternoon
Hoop Support Structure: ‘L’ shape iron support system. Classic. Make the most of it.
Hours of Operation: Park opens at 7:00 AM and closes at dusk
Pay-to-Play: Nope - 100% free!
League Play: No summer leagues run out of the park at time of writing, however some of the local ballers have been talking about setting something up - watch this space.
Best time to Play: Saturday/Sunday afternoons, or any early evening in the height of summer
The Deal: Don’t sleep!
