Meet Jugones Parque Sur, from Spain

Let’s meet a new Spanish streetball crew on Ballers Network. Hailing from Albacete, Jugones Parque Sur is presented by Luis Cuerda a.k.a. LYO through this interview
Who are Jugones Parque Sur?
Jugones Parque Sur was founded 3 years ago. Before that, some ballers from Albacete used to play together on the schoolyard of the Parque Sur college. At that time, I suggested we created this group, with this name and that’s how it all started.
Nowadays JPS is well known by the local institutions. We have collaborated with them in exhibition games and other events. We began our website as a way to meet, after 3 years it is also used to share pictures, articles from the crew and all kind of things related to street culture.
The fixed schedule of JPS includes an annual 4×4 streetball tournament. Last year it was a very popular tournament, in which teams from Madrid, Salamanca or Murcia participated . We had live music, concerts at night and many fans watching.
The most attractive event is All Star Jugones Parque Sur that takes place on the last weekend of the year. All the ballers of the crew are elegible for the All Star, there are elections, same as in NBA. Now we are looking forward to playing in the municipal league and in a few years to playing as federate players.
What is the situation of Streetball in Albacete?
In Albacete the Streetball is awaking, there is another group of teenagers that are meeting to play some freestyle tricks and that kind of stuff. The local institutions are helping us because we have organized ourselves as a Youth Asociation.
Courts in Albacete are terrible. There isn’t one in good condition. Last year the court where we used to play was renewed: Now is slippery and the rims are 2.10 meter high.
What do you like the most about streetball?
We are not real purist streetballers, although we like play 1vs1 and we enjoy all games. We make many tricks in our games. We practice a nice style of basket, but is just basketball, and not just a show.
What is the relationship between Jugones Parque Sur and other Spanish Crews?
I am in charge of these relations. A few years ago I was collaborating with Lovezapas to create a Spanish Streetball Map, where we will include not only information about courts but also about people. This is how I met Pollito from Mataró, a crew from Salamanca called Trampiña (that usually comes over here to play), a crew from Murcia and Cuenca. We keep in contact with all of them, but we have not made a tour yet.

Jesús Puerto, y alguno más que hay por ahí no son precisamente unos adolescentes, pero siguen disfrutando del baloncesto. Que bueno.
Algunos que si eran adolescentes han crecido, felicidades por seguir con esto del baloncesto.
