Meet Alante Lockett, a 6-4 freshman out of Stockton, California whose game just might be the smoothest thing around. Known by some as “Smooth Tae,” his fluid style of play is somewhat reminiscent of a young KG. When asked what his main basketball goals were, Lockett put it simply: “I want this game to open as many doors for me as possible - most importantly a free education.”

At the end of the day, there is no denying this young fella has the potential to do big things. If the time and work is put in, we’ll surely see the 14-year-old Lockett featured in newspaper and magazine headlines in the near future.

Name: Alante Lockett

Age: 14

Hometown: Stockton, California

Height: 6-4

Weight: 172

Shoe size: 14

Position: Center

My Home Court: Weston Ranch High School

Playing Experience: I’ve always run with the school team during the academic year. Then once that season is over, I hit playground pick-up games or open gyms all summer long.

Current Team: Right now I play for the freshman squad at West Ranch High and I’ll be running with them in summer leagues as well

Favorite Sneakers: I like Jordans. My favorite is the Air Jordan IV.

Favorite Player: Allen Iverson. He works hard.

Favorite Team: Golden State Warriors

Go-to-Move: Finger roll

I play: Because basketball is always a challenge. There is always something I can do to get better, so I play because it motivates me. Besides that, when it all comes down to it, I play for the fun of it more than anything.

Coming up I admired: My older cousins who played. Also some of the standout players at the different high schools in my area.

My basketball moment: I hit a buzzer beater in the middle school playoffs that sent our team into the Final Four so that’s probably my favorite moment

I am so proud of Alante. When he was a baby I always told him he could be whatever he wanted to be if he worked at it. If basketball is what he wants to do, do a good job at. I hold him up in prayer. Play hard, study just as hard and to God be the glory. Don’t ever forget to praise the Lord, both day and night. You can always call on Him, even on the basketball court.

    Love and blessings,

    Your Grandma Denise
